Master Bathroom-Before

Just to show you how far we've come, I want to share the before pictures of our master bathroom.  I took these shortly before we remodeled.  When we bought the house, the bathroom was painted a bright gold.  I just couldn't handle it, though.  So even though it didn't really match, I painted the bathroom Pashmina by Benjamin Moore to get us by until we made it to the remodel.

Master Bathroom Remodel

This post is really a long time coming.  When we bought our house four years ago, we knew then that we planned to remodel the master bathroom.  It wasn't our first priority, though, so after a few years and a lot of saving, we started down this road about a year ago.  I spent weekend after weekend browsing the showrooms at the local tile and stone distributor warehouses and countless hours staring a pictures online.  In late spring we started getting quotes from local contractors.  And, right on track with my third trimester of pregnancy, we moved upstairs to our guest room and the remodeling began.  Six weeks later, Texas Remodelers and Builders finished my dream bathroom.  And, I'm proud to share it with you now~

Pinterest Inspired Snowman Wreath

I saw these pictures on Pinterest a few weeks ago~

So, I decided to make my own version~

I found the natural grapevine wreaths at Joann's.  I used gold spray paint on them and attached each of them with wire.  We sprayed the wire gold after they were all attached together. 

We used black felt on foam board to make the hat and attached it with wire run through some extra black buttons we found in the closet.  I found the hot pink scarf in the kids section of Target.

Project total: $31.00!  And, it can easily be reused next year!

My Flocked Christmas Tree

Last week I told you all about the journey to my super flocked Christmas tree.  It was a lot of fun to decorate, and I'm excited to share it with you today~

I layered a $9 roll of loose weave burlap from Lowe's around the base of the tree as my tree skirt.  I love how it looks!  I also had a friend ask whether you could buy real and fake flocked trees.  The answer is yes.  Most flocked trees that you see are fake, but mine is a really tree that I had custom flocked at our local garden center.  And, to answer a reader question, it does shed some but not bad at all--it's neater than a real, unflocked tree!

More Fall Decor - Pumpkins!

Just wanted to share a few more shots of the touches of fall I added last weekend~

Pumpkin Planters

My goal for the weekend was to add a bit of fall to our house.  I generally am not one to over decorate for holidays--Christmas excluded--but this year with the hot summer we had (and still seem to be having) I thought that a little fall decor might make me feel like the seasons were actually changing.  After a trip to our local garden center and a stop at Michael's, I headed back home to start on my pumpkin planters. 

Here's how you can make your own pumpkin planters!

Start with faux pumpkins.  (I hate the work "fake"; "faux" sounds so much better!)  I picked mine up at Michael's.  You can probably also get them at Garden Ridge.  I bought a large and a medium size.  First step is to cut the top off.  We tried a few different methods, but in the end, the large kitchen knife worked the best.  Of course, you could use real pumpkins (and, they're cheaper than the faux kind), but I'm not sure how long they'll stay fresh enough to support your plants. 

Next step is to drill holes in the bottom.  You're going to fill them with dirt, so you'll need the water to drain out when you water your plants.  

Next, place a few rocks in the bottom.  I do this with all of my planters.  It helps the water drain easily.

Add enough dirt to support your plants.

I used one 6" Croton in each pot plus enough pansies to fill out the rest of the space.

Getting Ready for Fall

My plans for next Saturday are set. I'm finally going to get my house ready for fall!  Considering that it's still in the mid-90s here, there something unnatural about it, but I'm ready!  I did a quick search on Pintrest for some inspiration images.  Here are my favorites!  Hopefully, they'll give you some fun ideas, too!
